Oscar Cruces Named Director General of Grand Velas
NUEVO VALLARTA, Nayarit, Mexico. October 23, 2006. Oscar Cruces has been named Director General of Grand Velas All Suites & Spa Resort, the only luxury all-inclusive AAA Five-Diamond resort in Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta and one of few resorts to earn the distinction in Mexico and abroad. Cruces brings more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry to his new position at Grand Velas, a member of Leading Hotels of the World. As Director General he oversees all aspects of the hotel, from day-to-day operations and food and beverage to marketing and sales.
Prior to joining Grand Velas, Cruces was General Manager of the five-star Marquis Reforma in Mexico City. Prior to that, he headed up operations of the Gran Caribe Real and the Porto Real Hotel in the Yucatan Peninsula. Cruces successfully opened both hotels, with over 800 rooms, in less than a year. Previously he served as the General Manager of the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun Hotel, overseeing 5 restaurants and bars, and one of the largest convention facilities in Cancun.
Cruces has also worked with recognized hospitality giants such as Hyatt Resorts, Omni Hotels, Westin Hotels and Resorts and Camino Real Hotels.
