Polynesian to Revitalize Waterpark Resort in Wisconsin Dells

. October 14, 2008

WISCONSIN DELLS, WI, June 11, 2008. Polynesian Properties Development (PPD) today unveiled plans to revitalize the Polynesian Waterpark Resort in Wisconsin Dells. In a methodical effort to re-position the Polynesian as a key player in the waterpark and convention center business in Wisconsin Dells, PPD officials detailed a 20-million dollar renovation that will include a convention center, condominiums, waterpark attractions and a complete cosmetic makeover of the Polynesian exterior and nearly three-hundred rooms.

Co-owner, Stan Anderson states, "It's an exciting period for the Polynesian Waterpark Resort to be taking on this expansion project right now in the heart of a billion dollar tourism industry, Wisconsin Dells." Anderson continues, "We truly feel that those who have experienced the Polynesian theme in the past will view the ALL-NEW Polynesian as first-class waterpark, hotel and now convention center."

General Manager, Alan Anderson articulated, "Our goal is to offer our guests a brand new Polynesian theme in our room accommodations, amenities and entertainment features that will position us as a complete Wisconsin Dells destination." The new look will include condominiums for sale in the condotel model, improved waterpark features, a cosmetic makeover of nearly 300 rooms, complete remodel of the interior and exterior of the main Polynesian building, an overhead connecting walkway and the addition of a convention center. Polynesian officials explain, "The convention center will be a main centerpiece of the upgrade because of the Polynesian's unique and prominent location on I-90/94 as well as our brand awareness as the only Polynesian-themed facility in Wisconsin Dells."

The scenic Wisconsin Dells has undergone many changes in recent years, and now the same can be said for the Polynesian waterpark resort. The Polynesian became the Wisconsin Dells first themed upscale Wisconsin Dells resort offering guests a waterpark included with lodging which first opened its doors in 1989. Stan Anderson, co-owner with David Kaminski of the Polynesian states, "We never would have imagined that our original idea, which was the first of its kind in the region and in the United States, would have resulted in the Wisconsin Dells becoming the waterpark capital of the world."

Each unit's interior will undergo a complete makeover from floor to ceiling. The complete package of custom furniture, kitchenette and bath fixtures, carpeting and wall coverings will bring together a contemporary design all in the Polynesian theme. 32" flat screen TV's complete with gaming and video ports will enhance the amenity list of each unit.

The renovation plans for the indoor waterpark include 10-thousand square feet of additional water play areas. Plans include a large water-tipping water play area that will accommodate 100 people at one time, a five-thousand square foot wave pool and three timed speed slides.

Phase I construction will begin after Labor Day 2008 with the remodel of the first 100 units, construction of the overhead walkway connector and the brand new convention center. The second 100 units would be a part of the phase II construction and final phase III construction would be complete with the final 100 units.
