Luxury Oceanfront Resort Welcomes Innovative and Experienced New Leader
MIAMI, FL, February 2, 2009 - Ilan Segal has been named the Managing Director of Gansevoort South Hotel, Spa and Residences, Miami's newest luxury resort. He brings 15 years of experience as a highly successful hotelier characterized by a daring creativity and exquisite taste. His flair for innovation and profound understanding of how to enhance vibe and style will no doubt prove advantageous to Gansevoort South.
Mr. Segal, a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, developed a progressive style and commercial instinct early in his career while opening Starwood's Luxury Collection San Cristobal Tower in Santiago, Chile and worked at Starwood's first W Hotel in New York City. Later, he was instrumental in managing the iconic Tides and Marlin Hotel in Miami Beach along with its famous recording studio. His ever-developing eye captures the individuality of each destination, while his ideas bring together top-notch talent seeking to stimulate the senses and inspire guests.
Ilan spent four years in the luxury boutique hotel sector where he was responsible for the inauguration and management of Miami's Hotel Victor. By elevating hospitality standards and creating service experiences that leave long lasting impressions on visitors, Ilan steered the hotel to success and awards, including being named one of Cond'e Nast Traveler's 60 Best New Hotels in the world.
Most recently, Ilan has also consulted on Latin American projects that aim to create new lifestyle experiences. He collaborated with fashion designer Silvia Tcherassi on her brand extension, the Tcherassi Hotel + Spa in Cartagena de Indias, the region's first haute hotel.
"Ilan's unconventional approach and understanding of Miami's distinct cultural blend make him a great fit for Gansevoort South. We look forward to his leadership and vision enhancing the Gansevoort South hotel experience," said Elon Kenchington, Chief Operating Officer.
