SAN ANTONIO, TX, March09, 2009 - The new JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, currently under construction and slated to open March 2010, has named Arthur Coulombe as general manager. Coulombe comes to the Resort from his previous role as Area General Manager of the San Antonio Marriott Hotels.

Coulombe has devoted his 25-year career to Marriott International, including his successful seven-year tenure managing all Marriott properties in the San Antonio market. Coulombe's expertise and demonstrated success in hotel sales and marketing, will help him meet the challenge of managing the world's largest JW Marriott resort and the company's first-ever Texas JW Marriott property.

"This is an unparalleled project for the San Antonio region, for the State of Texas and for Marriott International," Coulombe said. "The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa's impressive size and magnificent amenities are world-class. It will bring new visitors from all over the globe to experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, and further establish our city's reputation for luxury destination travel and world class sports and recreation. I am truly honored to be serving the San Antonio community and JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts as we prepare for the opening of this grand property."

The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa will boast 1,002 richly appointed guest rooms with expansive views of the Hill Country terrain and more than 140,000 square feet of exhibit hall and meeting space. The Resort will feature a six-acre water park, a 26,000-square-foot spa, two PGA 18-hole Tournament Player's Club (TPC) golf courses designed by Pete Dye and Greg Norman, and seven restaurant and lounge options. In addition, the resort's Green Initiatives, which includes ecologically- friendly lightening and energy technologies, extensive use of recycled building materials, a closed-loop run-off water system for the golf courses, and a 100 acre bird sanctuary, will help ensure that the facility is amongst the most green resort properties anywhere in the world.

Coulombe's commitment to the community goes well beyond his management of the local Marriott hotels. He is immediate past president of the Greater San Antonio Hotel / Motel Association, founder and current member of the Executive Committee of the San Antonio Tourism Council, president of the Board of Trustees of the Southwest School of Art and Craft, president of Junior Achievement of South Texas and chairman of the Tourism Commission of the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau.
