Al Maha Names Amongst Leading Spas of the World

. October 14, 2008

DUBAI, UAE, November 14, 2005. Emirates' owned and managed Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa has been certified as 'Leading Spas for 2006' by The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd.

The world's foremost authority on hotel assessment and grading - the Leading Hotels of the World Ltd. - put 106 of the worlds' top hotels through a rigorous and anonymous inspection process to arrive at an elite worldwide list of only 30 "Leading Spas for 2006".

To be accorded with Leading Spa status, a hotel's spa facilities and services must pass a stringent inspection process that encompasses more than 200 criteria. Al Maha's impeccable quality standards and extremely high level of personal service underscored by a ratio of three staff to each suite enabled it to secure this prestigious certification.

The Leading Spas certification was established a year ago to serve as a benchmark for global luxury standards in the spa and hospitality industries.

Set within the 225 square kilometers Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, the Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa is known to offer its guests a perfect, stress-free holiday with a feel of the desert way of life, through its architecture, interiors, wildlife and desert activities.

Al Maha's Jamilah Spa rubs shoulders with the likes of Gleneagles, Scotland; The Lausanne Palace, Switzerland; and Banyan Tree; all of which have also been accepted into the leading spas of the world.

Al Maha Vice President, Tony Williams said, "We are delighted to be named one of the 'Leading Spas of the World for 2006'. This recognition is even more special to us as Al Maha's Jamilah Spa is designed and managed by the resort, and not out-sourced as is the industry norm."

Mr. Williams added, "Jamilah Spa has also developed its own unique product range, 'Timeless', which uses local ingredients such as dates and frankincense, known to have curative effects. The 'Timeless' range of treatments was developed by us in conjunction with leading spa product manufacturer BABOR AG of Germany."

Tucked within a palm oasis with views of the surrounding dunes, Al Maha's Jamilah Spa offers therapeutic massage and spa treatments. It is equipped with single and double massage rooms, Hydrotherapy and Rasool rooms for those seeking special treatments, state-of-the-art 'LifeFitness' equipment for body sculpting, sauna, steam, indoor Jacuzzi and ice-cold plunge pool.

Mr. Williams noted, "It is also a proud moment for the entire Al Maha staff as a separate mystery guest assessment carried out by the Leading Hotels of the World revealed that Al Maha scored substantially above the industry average in all categories with particularly high ratings in Front Office Service, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and an exceptional rating in the Overall Product. It is also worth mentioning that two staff members from our small, secluded resort have been nominated for the Annual Leading Staff Members Award - an international award in which all Leading Hotels of the World participate."
