Drake Hotel Announces $15 Million Makeover
Property to Add New Fitness Center and Spa, Expand Business Facilities
CHICAGO, IL, June 14, 2005. The Drake, long known as Chicago^1s preferred venue for discerning leisure travelers, is embarking on a $15 million expansion designed to make it the destination of choice for upscale business travelers as well.
The hotel plans is adding a brand-new fitness center and spa, and a new executive conference center with business center. In addition, the hotel^1s 537 rooms and suites will receive new oversized desks and luxury bedding.
The 4,600 square foot fitness center and spa, scheduled to open September 2005, will be located on the hotel^1s first floor and include state-of-the-art exercise equipment, sauna, and three treatment rooms for massages, wraps and other specialty spa services. The fitness center and spa will also feature natural light emanating from 20 windows.
Set to open in 2006, the executive conference center will be located on the hotel^1s 10th floor, affording guests unparalleled views of Lake Michigan and Chicago^1s Gold Coast. The facility will offer approximately 7,500 square feet, including eight technologically sophisticated and richly appointed boardrooms of various sizes, a fully equipped business center, and an executive lounge. In addition, oversized desks will be added to each guest room and suite, to ensure that business travelers have all the space necessary to work productively in their rooms.
The classic style of The Drake remains. But with the aforementioned enhancements The Drake no longer means simply romance and charm, it also means business!
