Angsana Spa Opens in Historic Cape Town Hotel

. October 14, 2008

CAPETOWN, South Africa, January 12, 2006. South Africa's first Angsana Spa has opened in the historic Vineyard Hotel & Spa in Cape Town. Nestled alongside a tranquil river and set among the hotel's landscaped gardens, the spa draws on the wisdom, philosophy and expertise of award-winning parent company, the Banyan Tree Spa group, to pamper and indulge locals and hotel guests alike.

At the Angsana Spa, ancient Eastern therapies blend seamlessly with those of the West. A 'high-touch, low-tech' approach, celebrating the power of the human touch, together with the use of fresh botanicals, forms the cornerstone of all Angsana Spa therapies.

Massage techniques, gracious Asian hospitality and spa etiquette are synonymous with the Angsana Spa group's high standards: all therapists have undergone extensive training at the Banyan Tree Spa Academy in Phuket, Thailand.

Aromas of treatment ingredients like tamarind, frangipani and tangerine infuse the air of the eleven treatment rooms and spa lounge at the Vineyard Hotel's Angsana Spa. Holistic massages, beauty wraps and tropical scrubs employing the ancient art of aromatherapy are offered, as well as Swedish and deep tissue massages. Spa guests can relax in private jacuzzis, infused with herbs and boasting breathtaking vistas of Table Mountain.

The Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel forms part of the hotel's spa and fitness center development. The first phase, completed in 2003, saw the opening of the state-of-the-art gymnasium, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the Splash Cafe. The launch of the Angsana Spa coincides with the unveiling of 10 luxurious rooms and suites, adjacent to the spa, all with terraces facing Table Mountain.

The Vineyard Hotel & Spa is a world-class, luxury hotel situated in Cape Town's leafy suburb of Newlands. The hotel, originally built in 1799 as a private residence for Lady Anne Barnard, has been well restored, keeping the Cape country-house style, with exquisite ceramic murals, artwork and antiques. Now comprising 173 well-appointed rooms and suites, the highly regarded Au Jardin restaurant and a conference center, the hotel is 15 minutes from the V&A Waterfront. The Vineyard is surrounded by six acres of landscaped gardens on the banks of the Liesbeeck River, within walking distance of an upscale shopping mall and numerous restaurants. Rack rates for rooms and suites range from US$ 146 to US$ 628 per night.
