. October 14, 2008

WHITE PLAINS, NY, June 1, 2006. Ten Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties have been voted the leading hotels of choice for business travellers in the Middle East in the latest readers' poll by Business Traveller Middle East. Notably, the Sheraton Kuwait and Sheraton Doha have been named as 'Best Business Hotel' for their respective destinations and additionally the Starwood Preferred Guest programme has also been recognised for leading the way in rewarding business travellers, by winning 'Best Hotel Loyalty Program'.

Both the Sheraton Kuwait and Sheraton Doha have received the award for the past five years, securing the Sheraton brand's position as providing the best service and accommodation for business travellers in this region. Located in the commercial and financial centre of Kuwait, the Sheraton Hotel and Towers offers the latest business facilities in a stylish and luxurious setting. Free wi-fi is available throughout the hotel as well as fully equipped business centre, outdoor swimming pool, electronic golf simulator and choice of gourmet dining options.

The Sheraton Doha Hotel and Resort is located overlooking the West Bay of Qatar's capital city, a short distance from the city centre and also offers a fully equipped business centre plus extensive meeting and convention facilities. After business is concluded, guests can relax by the outdoor pool, take advantage of the many leisure facilities or learn to sail in the Arabian Gulf.

Starwood Preferred Guest made headlines when it launched in 1999 with a breakthrough policy of no blackout dates and no capacity controls, meaning members can redeem free nights anytime, anywhere. Starwood Preferred Guest members have also cited the programme's hassle-free award redemption, outstanding customer service, dedicated member website and innovative promotions and benefits for elite members. The programme boasts an unrivalled portfolio of award-winning hotels and resorts that includes some of the world's most celebrated hotel brands: St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Westin, Sheraton, W Hotels and Four Points by Sheraton, as well as Le M'eridien. Starwood Preferred Guest also offers members the ability to redeem awards at more resorts, more luxury properties, more European hotels and more golf properties than any other hotel programme, which has proven to be a big draw for the world's most frequent travellers, and a significant competitive advantage.

Sheraton Hotels was also named as runner-up for 'Best Hotel Chain' in the Middle East. Sheraton Amman, Sheraton Cairo, Sheraton Abu Dhabi, Sheraton Bahrain, Sheraton Jeddah, Sheraton Oman and Sheraton Riyadh were all runners-up in the 'Best Business Hotels' category in their individual cities.

"We are very honoured to receive these awards, and realise that this recognition is yet another validation to our dedication to business travellers in the region", said Guido De Wilde, Vice President and Regional Director of Starwood Hotels in the Middle East.

"This is the fifth year in a row business travellers have voted for the Starwood Preferred Guest programme as Best Hotel Loyalty Program; and for Sheraton Kuwait and Sheraton Doha as Best Business Hotels in Kuwait and Qatar. The judges for these awards are the most important people of all - our guests - therefore the accolade has even greater significance. We will continue to pursue our goal to exceed our clients' expectations and to set the benchmarks in the way the travel industry does business", added De Wilde.
