Kaua'i Marriott Resort Begins Renovation
JUNE 17, 2009 - Known for its warm island hospitality and idyllic, beachfront location on the Garden Isle, the Kaua'i Marriott Resort is a favorite vacation spot for families, honeymooners and groups. Now, the resort will be made even better with a $50 million renovation, including major enhancements to its rooms, restaurants and other public areas.
"We're excited about all the improvements we have in store for our guests," said Elliot Mills, general manager of Kaua'i Marriott Resort. "While we undergo this transformation, we are still open and ready to serve guests with the service and hospitality they expect from a Marriott Resort in Hawai'i."
As an incentive, the resort is offering a special rate for those looking to explore the beauty and wonder of the Garden Isle. The "Discover Kaua'i" rate starts at $199 per night for a garden view room and $249 per night for a pool view room. The "Discover Kaua'i" rate is good until December 23, 2009.
The renovation of all 356 hotel guestrooms and suites started June 1. When completed by August 31, the new hotel rooms will feature a more contemporary ambience, influenced by the tropical Hawaiian setting. The interior design concept includes a crisp, neutral palette with crimson accents, inspired by the red ginger plants throughout the resort's lush gardens. Other upgrades include a flat screen television and modern bathroom fixtures and vanity.
Also undergoing a complete transformation is the open-air Kukui's Restaurant. When the restaurant reopens in the fall, it will include more covered dining areas and a new sushi bar, making for a more exceptional dining experience. While construction takes place, guests will find multiple dining options at the resort, including an expanded menu at Aupaka Terrace, the poolside Kalapaki Grill, the popular Duke's Canoe Club, and the neighboring Caf'e Portofino. Upon Kukui's reopening, Aupaka Terrace will then undergo improvements to create a comfortable and relaxing lounge with a full bar featuring traditional and trendy cocktail mixology.
Future renovation plans include upgrades to the main lobby and other public areas. The resort will continue to feature its weekly "Hawai'i Alive" Polynesian dance production every Monday night at its Ni'ihau Court.
