Rabbit Hill Inn's popular Pink Slip Getaway Giveaway extended to 2010

LOWER WATERFORD, VT, June 25, 2009 - In 1992, when Leslie and Brian Mulcahy came to the Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford, VT, the economy had taken a nosedive. Brian's middle management job was being eliminated along with thousands of others in an economic situation reminiscent of today. The "rabbit's tale" proved lucky for them when they went from being guests in 1992 to embarking on a new career as innkeepers at the Rabbit Hill Inn two years later. To provide the same kind of rejuvenation they found to others currently dealing with the uncertainty and anxiety of unemployment, the Mulcahys launched the Pink Slip Getaway Giveaway, initially to last through 2009. Knowing that downsized workers finally have all the time in the world to travel, but not the resources and responding to the continued unemployment epidemic, the Mulcahys have extended the Pink Slip Getaway Giveaway through April, 2010. Each month through April, 2010, with the exception of September and October, 2009, the Rabbit Hill Inn will give away at least one two-night getaway to a couple who has been unemployed for six months or more, helping to raise the bar on unemployment to "funemployment".

"We initially planned to run the Pink Slip Getaway Giveaway program from April through December, 2009, giving one getaway away per month," stated Leslie Mulcahy. "However, we received so many entries, we gave away additional getaways during the last few months. Choosing the winners has been the toughest part," finished Mulcahy. Knowing that the unemployment situation won't change soon, the Mulcahy's have extended the Pink Slip Getaway Giveaway promotion through April, 2010 to meet the need.

People, 25 or older, who've been unemployed for six or more months are encouraged to send their story to the Rabbit Hill Inn. Each month one deserving couple (unfortunately, children can not be accommodated) will be awarded a two-night getaway, including everything from beautiful accommodations to a candlelight dinner and in keeping with the theme, an old fashioned rabbit's foot for good luck. Simply send a letter or email by January 15, 2010 (the extended deadline) explaining your story in one page or less to:

The hope is to recharge the spirit and energy of unemployed people who really need a break so they can hit the pavement with renewed vigor. Each Pink Slip Getaway will include:

o Two nights lodging (Sunday - Thursday, non-holiday) for two people in one room on a space available basis.

o Romantic gourmet dinner for two on one evening

o Candlelit breakfast each morning

o Afternoon tea and pastry daily

o Signature turndown service nightly

o All gratuities, service charges and taxes

o A good old fashioned rabbits foot keychain for luck

Note: pub charges and transportation to the inn are additional.

At least one Pink Slip Getaway will be arranged monthly from now until April, 2010, with the exception of September and October when the inn is sold out. All letters from interested participants must be received no later than January 15, 2010. One letter per person is allowed. Duplicate entries will eliminate interested parties from consideration. Pink Slip Getaway recipients will be notified by email or phone. Pink Slip Getaways are not transferrable and may not be combined with any other offers or promotions. Pink slip getaways will be scheduled no later than April 30, 2010, are subject to availability, and blackout dates may apply.
