Roomlinx Wins Global Business Planning Competition
Denver-based hospitality company wins one year of free office space and support package
DENVER, CO, July 1, 2009 - Roomlinx, Inc. (OTC: RMLX), the innovative supplier of hospitality in-room Interactive TV products, has been chosen as the winner of the International Technium Challenge, a global business planning competition sponsored by the Technium network of business incubators and International Business Wales (IBW).
Roomlinx beat finalists from Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Japan, Korea, South Africa and France in an intensive selection process, which involved presenting detailed business plans. In addition to one year of free office space in a Wales, U.K. Technium, Roomlinx will receive a business support package including legal, marketing and business counsel as it expands in Europe.
The Technium Challenge, established in 2003, identifies and supports innovative businesses with exceptional growth potential. Geraint Jones, head of IBW Americas, said, "Roomlinx was a stand out candidate from the beginning of the competition, with its impressive proposition for expanding into the U.K. market. IBW and Technium look forward to assisting this forward-thinking enterprise with its plans to build a sustainable international business in Wales."
The U.K. is an attractive market because the Ryder Cup will be held in Newport, Wales, in 2010 and the Olympics in London, England, in 2012, both creating demand for hotel rooms and the services that Roomlinx provides. The company will have time to ramp up to provide the services hotels want to draw the attention of guests.
"The honor of winning the International Technium Challenge is an enormous stepping stone for Roomlinx to expand into Europe, beginning with the U.K.," said Roomlinx CEO Mike Wasik. "Recognition from an established international competition, where we were pitted against other worldwide innovators, serves as further validation that the Roomlinx platform is a universal evolution of in-room media."
Roomlinx was recently designated the official in-room media solution for InterContinental Hotels Group, and was named IBM's "Hotel-in-a-Box" solution, which offers a suite of cutting-edge technologies to hotel managers.
