November 18, 2009 - Have you ever thought it would be cool to sleep in a gallery surrounded by world class art? How about having a skateboard mini bar in your room or faux grass, vintage lawn chairs and a fondue set for a picnic in your suite? What about falling asleep to projected mixed media images of waves, water and surfing on the draperies after a day at the beach? Surf's up in Laguna Beach at the La Casa del Camino Hotel and we're not just talking about the waves out front. The historic boutique hotel in the heart of Laguna has become part of the Riviera Magazine Design series to create the Casa Surf Project—10 Designers, 10 Suites, 10 Companies, and One Truly Unique Project.
Action sports icons like Billabong Men's and Billabong Women's, Rip Curl, Etnies, Roxy, Quiksilver, L* Space, Lost International along with Riviera Magazine and Glaceau have teamed with Southern California's finest designers to create the Casa Surf Suites with a portion of the proceeds from each room donated to key selected charities for the first year.
“Hand-painted or signed surf boards on the walls, underwater photomurals, George Nelson furniture, sustainable products, and the idea of a sink shaped like a skate pool are just some of the things that attracted us to this project. Not to mention the charity aspect of it,” states Christopher Keller, Co-Owner of La Casa del Camino. “We're excited to be involved in the Casa Surf Project and to be able to offer travelers the opportunity to experience something truly unique to Southern California, with suites that also represent the tastemakers in this area. With these one-of-a-kind, über creative designs, La Casa del Camino now offers individualized suites you won't find anywhere else on the planet.”
Besides staying in the newly remodeled suites, La Casa del Camino, built in 1929 and once the stomping ground for Hollywood starlets, has Laguna's only “Rooftop Lounge” with 360 degree views of sea, sky, sunsets, and the twinkling lights of the coastal hillside. Highly affordable, delicious eats at bustling K'ya Bistro Bar (all dishes $10 and under) showcase Chef Craig Connole's European-style cuisine in the urban chic decor.
The new rooms are available starting November 8th. Rates will start at $269. For more information on La Casa del Camino and the newly renovated suites, please call toll free (888) 367-5232, or visit www.lacasadelcamino.com or www.casasurfproject.com.
