Grab a Drink, Sit Back and Relax at Reef Side

The popular Belize watering hole at St. George's Caye Resort has a new name

ST. GEORGE'S CAYE, Belize - May 6, 2010 - When St. George's Caye Resort asked what to call two parts laid-back luxury and one part Belizean hospitality, served straight up on the reef, guests and fans answered. The resort is pleased to announce that its bar has now been christened “Reef Side”. Out of over 400 entries, Judith Bitterli's moniker took top honors and she is the lucky recipient of a three-night stay for two.

“My husband and I started diving fourteen years ago,” says Judith. “As soon as we were certified we hopped on a plane and went to St. George's. It was our first dive lodge after certification and we loved it.”

Judith and her husband Bob live in Austin, Texas and Judith, an entrepreneur at heart, is currently launching her fourth business - a web-based tea company focused on organic specialty teas. The Bitterlis have fourteen nieces and nephews and when each hits 13 years of age, the couple takes them diving. So far they have been diving with seven of them and three years ago, they took four to experience St. George's with them.

When asked about the St. George's bar naming contest, Judith said, “I heard about the promotion from an email. And the name stuck because of the bar location. It faces the reef, so Reef Side.”

Whether guests are relaxing after a day of exploring, sharing tales about the one that got away or simply enjoying a specialty cocktail after a long day lounging in the sun, the bar at St. George's Caye is the place to be.
