Delta Hotels and Resorts Appoints Two SVPs
New Executive Leadership Members to Oversee Brand¹s Operations and Asset Management
July 26, 2010 - Delta Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of two senior positions at its corporate office in Toronto. The appointment of these industry veterans will help ensure the brand is in a strong position to benefit from growth in market demand, as well as in expansion of the chain¹s portfolio of properties across Canada.
David Bird has been appointed to the newly reinstated position of Senior Vice President, Operations. In this role, Bird will support Delta¹s brand commitment to ensuring consistent product and service delivery, as well as determining strategic capital investment opportunities that provide appropriate owner return.
Prior to joining Delta's corporate office, Bird was Vice President, Operations for the Prairies region and General Manager of the Delta Calgary Airport, where he oversaw multiple hotels across an expansive area. This seasoned industry professional has 26 years of international hospitality experience, 19 years of which he spent in various leadership positions within the Delta brand, and including five years as the General Manager of the 1000-room Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, New York. Bird started his career with Delta as a Front Desk Cashier at Canada's largest hotel the Delta Chelsea and assumed increasing responsibility in locations across Canada including the position of General Manager at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in the mid-90s.
This Toronto native is a graduate of Humber College's Hotel Administration program, as well as the University of Guelph's Advanced Management Program for the Hospitality Industry (AMPHI). He is relocating back to Toronto with his wife and three children.
Romy Bhojwani has been appointed to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Asset Management. In this capacity, Bhojwani will be responsible for value creation of existing owned real estate, as well as the execution of strategic growth objectives for the brand's ownership groups.
Bhojwani is a consummate professional with more than 15 years of experience in the global hospitality and real estate industries. He most recently held the position of Senior Vice President, Real Estate, with Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, where he led hotel real estate transactions valued at over $300 million, and provided strategic advisory and asset management services to a variety of global hospitality investors. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Asset Management with Hilton Hotels Corporation World Headquarters, where he executed a $3.5 billion real estate strategy, as well as oversaw annual capital spending of $350 million for a portfolio of 120 properties across 8 hotel brands. Bhojwani brings global experience in hospitality brand management, ownership, advisory, transactions and asset management to this newly created role at Delta.
Bhojwani holds a Masters of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University and is a graduate of the Hotel Administration and Food Technology program at Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai, India. He is a certified Hotel Administrator by the American Hotel & Lodging Association and has relocated from Los Angeles to Toronto with his wife and their two children.
