Blanch House in Atlingworth Street, Kemp Town - Reopened for Business

Following an extensive refurbishment programme and under new ownership, one of Brighton's most iconic Regency boutique hotels re-opened today

. July 25, 2011

22 July 2011 - The highly individual, new-look Grade II listed 12-bedroom Blanch House - located in a discreet Georgian terrace only a short walk from the centre of the city and a stone's throw from the seafront - has been designed to respect the heritage of the Regency building whilst paying attention to comfort, personalised service and contemporary style. The Blanch House design and philosophy will provide guests with a great night's accommodation and superb breakfast, using the best local produce, at inclusive prices to suit all pockets - ranging from £95 to £215 per night.

In addition, the hotel has been developed further as a top class venue with a 'green' ethos for weddings, civil partnerships, private functions and celebrations, conferences, meetings, training, product launches and art exhibitions. And that's not all - guests will now be able to hire exclusively the entire hotel from £1,500 (including VAT) per night from Monday to Thursday; and from £1,800 for Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Behind the new-look Blanch House, purchased in May 2011, are two Sussex-based business leaders - experienced in the hotel industry - who are passionate about hotel-keeping and working with people. Founder of Brighton and Hove-based specialist HR development consultancy 'Occupational Counselling Consultants' (OCC), Jeremy Ornellas has joined forces with established professional hotelier Kerry Turner MIH - Director of OCC Recruitment and a former General Manager for over 13 years with Historic Sussex Hotels - to form Seventeenten Hospitality Ltd and take Blanch House to the next stage in its evolution as a successful hotel.

Both are extremely excited about the re-opening of Blanch House which represents the fulfilment of a strongly held ambition for them. Kerry Turner - who brings to Blanch House his extensive experience of running top class hotels at Historic Sussex Hotels' Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield; Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa at Climping; and The Spread Eagle Hotel at Midhurst - explained that he and Jeremy have set out to create an intimate and friendly boutique hotel where “our personalised service means that we really want to take care of our guests to a level where nothing is too much trouble. Blanch House's rooms are about creating the experience the customer is looking for, whether they are staying for pleasure or business, or they're exclusively hiring the whole hotel for a specific occasion or event”.

Each of Blanch House's highly individual guest rooms are equipped to meet the needs of both the business and leisure markets - with complimentary wi-fi, a state-of-the-art LED flat screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player, whilst a cafetière with a range of quality teas and coffee are provided to aid customer relaxation. This is further enhanced by luxury toiletries in all the bathrooms. All room rates include breakfast and VAT.

The guest rooms range from Perrier Jouet (£215 per night for double occupancy for Fridays and Saturdays; and £195 per night for Sunday to Thursday nights), to Peony (£120 per night for double occupancy for Fridays and Saturdays; and £95 per night for double occupancy for Sunday to Thursday nights).

Perrier Jouet is a large sumptuous room which is a design jewel in the Blanch House crown. With many of its original architectural features, tall windows, decorative wrought iron balcony and superb sea view, it is the ideal setting for celebrating with a glass or two of Perrier Jouet Champagne! Guests can luxuriate in the splendid roll-top bath or enjoy the separate shower room before hitting the city. The choice of guest rooms at Blanch House also includes contemporary and quirky guest rooms - such as 'Moroccan', with its painted walls to give the exotic feel of a romantic night in Casablanca; or 'Alice' which is an uplifting wonderland, with mirrored wallpaper, providing pure escapism where guests could be forgiven for thinking that they might even meet the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter or White Rabbit!

Jeremy Ornellas - who will take charge of the day-to-day management of Blanch House alongside his sister Sara Ornellas, the hotel's experienced Events Organiser, whilst Kerry concentrates on OCC Recruitment - concluded: “We know just how much fun our guests like to have, and our 'residents only' Champagne Bar, which serves a wide range of alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks, will set the mood for entertaining guests' family and friends, and an evening on the town.

“There is so much to do in this vibrant and historic seaside city. You can visit the world famous Royal Pavilion, take in a show at the Theatre Royal, shop in the centuries old twisting alleyways of The Lanes, watch cricket at the county Ground in Hove, get the sand between your toes, or even go horse or greyhound racing! For the more adventurous, guests can even partake in activities such as beach volleyball, deep sea fishing, diving, sailing or wind surfing - the sky's the limit!

“Our guests can't fail but love the quirkiness and buzz of Kemp Town. You can soak up the atmosphere of this friendly and fascinating village within Brighton - filled with colourful characters, antique stores, elegant eateries, great bars and cosy pubs alongside delicious delis and lifestyle shops. In short, it's an area that hopefully will tempt guests back again and again!”
