Eden Roc Renaissance in Miami Beach Completes Four-year $230 Million Renovation and Expansion
MIAMI, FL - October 9, 2012 - The “Grande Dame” of Miami Beach since its 1950's heyday, Eden Roc Renaissance proudly announces completion of its four-year refreshment & renewal program. From the complete construction of the Ocean Tower to the addition of an award-winning, farm-to-table restaurant, 1500°, and the first-ever ELLE Spa, the $230 million project is the “renaissance” of a timeless, Oceanside treasure.
In 2008, after 52 years of playing host to Hollywood greats, the iconic hotel was in need of a renovation. Aiming to gracefully blend the Eden Roc's legendary service and iconic style with updated, modern architecture and contemporary glamour, Greg Cook was invited to oversee the construction and renovation project as the general manager. Cook enlisted the help of architect John Nichols and his Coral Gables firm, who focused on preserving Morris Lapidus' style while flawlessly fusing the architecture of the new building with the original. The resort was closed for 18 months while the original Resort Tower was gutted and rebuilt, and the Ocean Tower was constructed. Debuting in January of 2009, the Ocean Tower added 282-rooms in varying configurations, including bi-level bungalows and executive suites, to meet a myriad of guest preferences.
The award-winning farm-to-table steakhouse, 1500°, was completed in October of 2010 under the auspices of executive chef, Paula DaSilva, as seen on season five of “Hell's Kitchen.” 1500° celebrates soulful food and seasonality, and is dedicated to transforming the fresh ingredients into inventive dishes that please the palates of diners and critics alike. Meeting frequently with local farmers and fisherman, Chef Paula is committed to "buying local," from Homestead-grown strawberries to Florida grass-fed beef, Atlantic-caught snapper and handmade local burrata cheese. Since its inception, 1500° was named a “Best New Restaurant in America” by Esquire in 2011, “Best New Steakhouse” by Miami New Times, and has been featured in a slew of high-profile publications including Food & Wine and W Magazine, among others.
The first-ever ELLE spa, opened in June 2011, boasts a bevy of indulgent, luxurious treatments and signature services in a perfect harmony of style, service and serenity. Recently recognized among the best new spas by Conde Nast Traveler, ELLE Spa offers plush amenities and dazzling ocean views, all steps from the fame and fortune of Millionaire's Row. With floor to ceiling windows overlooking the hotel's lush tropical gardens and ocean, and sweeping seascape, the 22,000 square foot space boasts design and decor inspired by the Mediterranean coastline. High‐coved ceilings, whitewashed walls, natural stone, water and wooden elements create a calm and chic environment for the ultimate spa escape.
July 2012 marked completion of the spa terrace, an expansive, private rooftop deck replete with VIP cabanas, light dining and beverage service. The new spa space allows for vast views of the resort complex and brings the four-year refreshment & renewal program full circle.
