IHG Adds New Development Executives
MARCH 7, 2007. IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed Alex Kuhl and George O'Brien to the development team of The Hotel Management Group, the operations division of IHG's Americas region.
As Directors of Development, Kuhl and O'Brien will be responsible for actively marketing and negotiating management agreements for the following IHG brands: Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. As of December 31, 2006, IHG's management portfolio in the Americas consists of more than 200 hotels and 4,000 rooms with another 14 hotels and 3,700 rooms in the pipeline.

Kuhl joined IHG in 2003 as director of corporate sales at the Crowne Plaza Times Square. During his tenure he also served as director of group sales and was awarded the 2006 Sales Impact Award for Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. He has held numerous sales and convention positions with the Millennium Broadway Hotel & Conference Center and Sheraton Hotels of New York. Kuhl earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Denison University.
O'Brien joined IHG in 2003 as part of the finance team, where he was responsible for financial and strategic analysis for both the franchised and managed businesses. Most recently he served as manager of Investment Analysis, where he assisted in deal structuring and performed feasibility analysis and financial underwriting for proposed management agreements. Previous to his tenure at IHG, he held various finance positions with Eastman Kodak and MCI WorldCom. O'Brien earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Florida International University and his Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University.
