New VP Corporate Communications for Accor North America

MARCH 16, 2007. Accor North America, one of the largest hotel chain owner and operators in North America, announces the promotion of Janice Maragakis to Vice President of Corporate Communications.

Maragakis' responsibilities include corporate communications for six Accor Brands-Motel 6, Studio 6, Red Roof Inn, Ibis, Novotel and Sofitel-in North America including Mexico and Canada. In addition to serving as Co-chair of the Accor Crisis Team, Maragakis manages Accor North America's financial public relations and handles the Accor press hotline.

Maragakis joined Accor in 2005 as Director of Public Relations and served as Senior Director of Public Relations before her promotion to Vice President of Corporate Communications. In 2006, Maragakis, along with the entire Accor hurricane crisis group, received the Bernache Award from Accor Worldwide for their work during the 2005 hurricane season. Maragakis earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, and prior to joining Accor, she ran her own public relations and marketing agency for 18 years and worked with clients such as Exxon Co. U.S.A., R.J. Reynolds, Acxiom and EDS.
