The Hiltons of Chicago Welcome New Area Director of Sales & Marketing, Mario Thompson
Hiltons of Chicago Sales & Marketing Complex representing Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel, Hilton Chicago, and The Drake Hotel are pleased to announce the appointment of Mario Thompson as Area Director of Sales and Marketing. Thompson will lead a tenured team with 300+ years of collective hotelier commercial experience to complement a combined 347 years of hospitality excellence at these renowned historic Hilton hotels. Thompson brings more than 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including 12 years in hospitality leadership roles, and has been with Hilton since 2009 across San Diego, New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Baltimore.
In his most recent role, Thompson served as Commercial Director at Hiltons of San Diego Sales & Marketing Complex, where he played an instrumental role in guiding his team through the various challenges presented by COVID-19, positively impacting booking revenue and share gains on behalf of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts enterprise.

Thompson earned his degree in Business Management from Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Prior to joining the Hilton brand, Thompson held leadership roles in the front desk, catering, and sales departments at New York Marriott Downtown, where he was awarded Chairman's Circle in 2005 and 2006. Thompson later joined Atlanta Marriott Marquis as Senior Sales Manager, where he achieved President's Circle in 2007 and Global Sales Team of the Year in 2008.
Thompson and his wife, along with their five daughters, will be relocating to Chicago. He values his time with his family, especially cooking with the leading ladies of their household, and enjoys reading and playing golf during his personal time.
