Full Moon at Anantara Koh Samui Resort Wins Wine Spectator Award 2008

SEPTEMBER 11, 2008. Full Moon Italian restaurant of Anantara Resort Koh Samui has earned the highly coveted 'Award of Excellence 2008' from the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine. The resort receives this award for three years consecutively in a row now.

The 2008 Wine Spectator Dining Guide listed more than 4,000 restaurants around the world, 21 of which are in Thailand and Full Moon restaurant makes it the only award-winning restaurant in Koh Samui.

Wine Spectator magazine is known worldwide as a guide to the world's best wines. This year, the Wine Spectator Awards programme celebrates its 3rd year of recognising restaurants that show passion and commitment when it comes to wine. Award winning restaurant are chosen for the quality and selection of their wine lists.

When it comes to Full Moon restaurant, the fine-dining of Italian cuisine and wine consumption are not the only significant affair for the restaurant. The restaurant is designed by Bensley; world's renowned interior designer. The restaurant is cantilevered over the edge of the swimming pool giving diners the sensation of hovering between the deep blue sea and a dramatic torch lit waterway which runs the length of the gardens.

The restaurant's three interlocking terraces start with the pool bar on the lowest level and ascend over two floors of dining, all of which are connected by a void space in which a huge full moon globe hangs suspended. Polished concrete beams with copper edgings, teak and copper-trimmed furniture, custom-made ceramic tableware and a menu of contemporary Italian cuisine finish off a modish restaurant, which since its opening, has become a highly-sought after venue.

Opened in November 2004 on the Thai island of Koh Samui, Anantara is a boutique-sized resort of just 106 rooms and suites, all of which look out over the azure-waters and white sands of Bophut Bay towards the island of Koh Phangan.
