Hotel to Share the Love with Victims of Haiti Earthquake

SAN DIEGO, CA, January 22, 2010 - Porto Vista Hotel (Porto Vista) is hosting a two-day flashback love fest for couples and singles alike to celebrate Valentine's weekend with the Dating Game hosted by local celebrities, a Soultrain dance party and a menu of aphrodisiac offerings at the Glass Door restaurant. To spread the love beyond San Diego, guests will also have the opportunity to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Start romancing a day early by joining Porto Vista for a Valentine's event on Saturday, February 13 at 6 p.m. on the Ripassi rooftop deck for drinks, DJs, dancing and a revamped version of the classic Dating Game. A suggested donation of $10 at the door will go directly to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti as well as $1 of every Love Potion cocktail available at the rooftop bar.

“To make it more than just a special weekend for couples, Porto Vista's flashback Valentine's party has a number of offerings to give singles the chance to find love just in time for Valentine's Day,” said Greg Keebler, general manager of Porto Vista. “We also wanted to create an event that would generate contributions to help the victims in Haiti, and with our partnership with the American Red Cross, we hope to make a small difference in their time of need.”

For some retro romance, the hotel will play match maker with the celebrity hosted Dating Game at 7:30 p.m. Two of San Diego's well known TV and radio personalities will host the bachelor and bachelorette games and some lucky San Diego singles will end the evening with a date and a complimentary dinner at the Glass Door Restaurant.

For local singles interested in participating as a contestant on the Dating Game, an open casting call is taking place at the Glass Door on Friday, February 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

To end the night, a Soultrain dance party will begin at 9 p.m. where guests are invited to find a partner, let loose and enjoy the rhythm of 70s tunes.

To help set the mood on Valentine's Day, the Glass Door is offering guests an aphrodisiac menu to savor at brunch and dinner. Sultry starters include Hand-Shucked Oysters with Mignonette Marmalade and Arugula Almond and Asparagus Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette. Ooh La La entrees include Petite Snake River Farms Kobe Beef Filet and Lobster Ravioli, Vanilla Beurre Blanc with Truffled Cream. And for a dessert sure to fulfill any desire, the Glass Door offers a Chocolate Menage a Trios paired with a bottle of Piper Sonoma Champagne. The menu starts $120 for couples with $10 being donated to the American Red Cross.
