Spa at Reid's Palace Offers Treatments for Entire Family

FEBRUARY 16, 2007. New Treatment Menus from Ytsara, Aromatherapy Associates and LaStone Therapy The Spa at Reid's Palace in Madeira, which opened late last year, has introduced a new spa menu designed for the whole family to enjoy. The unique array of indulgent treatments are from the world's top brands, including Ytsara, Aromatherapy Associates, LaStone Therapy and La Prairie.

The therapies incorporate many of the botanic and mineral ingredients found on the sub-tropical island, including basalt stone, rose, mint, banana and orchid, with appeal for all generations. The variety of treatments include:

Nangfa 'Angel Bliss' for Children - Designed to soothe children to sleep while boosting their immune system, gentle pressure is applied to the scalp, legs and feet. A special drink is offered at the end of the treatment as well as a gift. As with all of the children's treatments, this treatment is done with parental supervision.

Chumyen, After Sun Cooling Wrap - Cooling Thai White Clay is wrapped over the body and freshly crushed cucumber and mint is then applied to nurture and hydrate. While the skin is replenishing, a soothing scalp massage is given to help release tension.

Yothai Facial - A regenerative organic facial for sensitive and aging skin, with a blend of Pandan Leaf and Pink Lotus extract to alleviate fine lines and wrinkles, and assist cell renewal and oxygenation.

LaStone Therapy - An exclusive 70-minute signature treatment that uses long deep massage strokes to match the rhythm of the Atlantic and heated basalt - the foundation stone of Madeira.

Located in a separate building adjacent to the pool deck and accessed through the fragrant gardens of Reid's Palace, the spa has five therapy rooms each with terraces overlooking the calming waters of the Atlantic. Unique to Madeira, the double therapy suite has two treatment tables, its own outdoor patio area and private plunge pool to enable couples, families and friends to experience the most luxurious therapies together.

The main spa menu is Ytsara, which draws on an Asian blend of healing and therapeutic remedies and ties in well with the sub-tropical climate of Madeira, using indigenous products such as cucumber, rosemary and mint for its signature treatments. It has a wide range of spa programs for all age groups, couples and families, with four signature treatments including 'Chumyen', 'After Sun Cooling Wrap', 'Sacred Lily and Jasmine Extravagance' and 'Botanical Indulgence'.

Aromatherapy Associates use essential oils that are renowned for their skin enhancing properties that harness a holistic wellness approach. Signature treatments include 'Garden of Roses Ritual', 'Natural Reviver' and for the ultimate relaxation treatment, the 5-hour 'Haven of Peace'.

Reid's Palace offers many spa packages including 'Sparadise', which includes four nights in a superior room, daily buffet breakfast, one dinner at Villa Cipriani restaurant, Botanical Indulgence -a four-hour signature treatment by Ytsara and a 50-minute massage by La Stone. The price is from EUR1,268 per person ($1,657* approx.) based on two sharing and is valid from now to December 20, 2007.

The Spa was part of the hotel's fourth phase of a renovation program, which started on January 16, 2006, with an expenditure of EUR8.5 million. Last year also saw the completion of an extensive renovation program to 69 rooms at Reid's Palace. Two of the original swimming pools, one freshwater and one saltwater, have been reshaped to give them an infinity edge and higher water temperature. There is now more space and better views for sunloungers around the pool and the ocean pool terraces have been levelled, creating a more attractive area for guests to relax beside the ocean.
