San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Undergoes Complete Renovation

USA, San Antonio, Texas. August 24, 2021

The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, part of Marriott International Inc., is the go-to destination for meetings and events in the heart of San Antonio on the famed San Antonio River Walk. The property recently underwent extensive renovations, adding even more value for guests looking to plan their next gathering.

"Our top-to-bottom renovations have touched every aspect of the property, from redesigned guest rooms to new dining concepts and even additional meeting space," said Loris Menfi, General Manager. "We are so pleased to help guests create memorable experiences in the heart of all that San Antonio has to offer."

Meeting and event space was increased by 11,000 square feet during the renovation, to a total of 70,136 square feet with a capacity of up to 6,400 guests over 45 fully redesigned event rooms and elegant salon rooms. 10,000 square feet of space is now available on the second floor, while three new conference rooms were added on the third floor. The property's concierge lounge was expanded with the M Club, which overlooks the world-famous Alamo. The foyer was also renovated to allow for plenty of pre-function and break out space. Memorable events are planned with ease thanks to an on-site team of event planners ready to help with plenty of AV equipment, decorators and more. Guests can also make use of the on-site business center for any administrative needs.

As one of the largest hotels in downtown San Antonio, the renovation also included all 1,000 guest rooms, including 86 suites, which were updated with modern luxury vinyl flooring to provide a luxury residential feel. The renovations also covered all public areas and turned the property into a touchless experience with electronic access to elevators and guestrooms.

The open concept of the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter lobby provides revamped food and beverage options including Café Bocadillo for a casual, coffee house setting with light bites and Tributary, a Tribute to Texas, that focuses on seasonality and sources local ingredients for their Texas-modern cuisine.

Located in the heart of downtown, the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter is ideally located on the San Antonio River Walk and within striking distance of San Antonio's best attractions including the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, The Alamo, LEGOLAND, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and countless restaurants, golf courses and spas.

For large events who need even more space, The San Antonio Marriot Rivercenter's sister property, The San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk, is also on the vibrant River Walk and provides an additional 500 guestrooms with views of downtown San Antonio or the River Walk. It also boasts an additional 17,000 square feet of event space across 14 rooms with a capacity of up 1,100 guests, and is known for its ample outdoor space, like the Oak Tree Terrace, directly on the river.

The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter hotel is located at 101 Bowie St., San Antonio, TX 78205. The San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk hotel is located at 889 East Market Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205. Both are just steps from the hundreds of attractions and restaurants at the River Walk.

Architecture & Design: Wellness is Key

Like every other facet of hotel operations, architecture and design firms are adapting their work to ensure the safety and well-being of both guests and staff. New ways to bring Wellness into hotel spaces are being explored and these solutions are taking on many forms. Hotel designs are incorporating more open floor plans, open air spaces, high ceilings, outdoor areas and operable walls into their spaces. Guests no longer want to be packed into tight areas. More "biophilic" elements are also being incorporated, offering guests the sense of being outdoors. Another trend is the reimagining of guest rooms to support remote work capabilities. Some hotels are converting empty guest rooms into office spaces, complete with effective lighting and suitable backgrounds for video conferencing. Dedicated Zoom Rooms are also becoming increasingly popular. The main goal is to provide guests with a positive experience in a space that feels safe and comfortable. These are some of the architecture and design subjects that will be covered in the November issue of the Hotel Business Review.
