Colorado’s Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Undergoing Guestroom Renovation
The impressive progress continues at one of the United States' most iconic hot springs attractions, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Opened to great fanfare on July 4, 1888, the mountain property continues to deliver top-notch guest experiences through honoring its rich history, completing valuable improvement projects, and introducing plentiful new features.
The latest focus is on lodging excellence, with a total refresh of all 107 guest rooms and suites at the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort and the upcoming addition of a new boutique hotel, Hotel 1888. The projects will be unveiled this spring and summer.
Updating the Lodge's 107 guest rooms and suites began in early September 2024, has been completed in phases, and is scheduled to wrap up in early March. The light-filled rooms have been updated with premium cotton linens with elegant details, artwork that evokes the historic heritage of the resort, and a mountain modern look that features touches of wood, brass and a clean and calming color scheme of gray, black, white and taupe. New lighting and elegant bathroom finishes complete the luxurious look. All Lodge stays come with unlimited access to the hot springs pools during business hours and complimentary hot breakfast at the poolside Grill.
In tandem with the Lodge project, a portion of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort's historic sandstone bathhouse is being transformed into Hotel 1888. The poolside Hotel 1888 is slated to open this summer and features 14 luxury guest rooms and two high-end suites that are ideal for couples and small groups of three or four travelers. Stays at Hotel 1888 include unlimited access to the hot springs pools during business hours, complimentary breakfast served at the hotel, and admittance to the resort's award-winning Athletic Club. Booking for Hotel 1888 will open in March.
Both the Lodge guest room upgrades and introduction of Hotel 1888 are part of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort's multiyear improvement plan. The plan began with the introduction of Sopris Splash Zone in 2019, continued with the renovation of the Therapy Pool and all changing rooms in 2022, and most recently featured the opening of Yampah Mineral Baths in May 2024. Located on the east end of the pool complex that also includes the Grand Pool (the world's largest hot springs pool), Yampah Mineral Baths features a cozy outdoor fireplace and five pools of varying temperatures, including two cold therapy pools.
The natural mineral hot springs water that has been rejuvenating mind, body and spirit for decades comes directly from the on-site Yampah Source Spring, which produces 3.5 million gallons a day. The pools are open to day guests and overnight guests from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with hours expanding to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
